We just got a new pug puppy in the last few months and are just nuts about him.Winnie is her name and she is nine weeks old.Potty training her is proving to be an interesting experience.
It is not unusual for pugs to have days that they do real good and then its like she is mad at us for something and that is how she is getting back at us. She is never left alone; she has someone around her at all times
Our pug likes to be a bit of a diva and whimpers to beat the band when she sees my husband putting on his coat and hat and heading for the door. Our little treasure craves attention 24/7 and she knows that the pooch pad is the place to receive it, so if she wants our approval she waddles over to it as quickly as possible
Every book and training method possible has been used to try and housetrain her but not always with the success we were expecting. For some weird reason she wont even approach her puppy pad or the door depending on what mood she is in.Sometimes we take her out and she does nothing and waits until she comes back inside, but because we love her so much we just grin and bear it, we know we will sort it out at some stage, we know it isn't her fault but probably our training methods which are rubbish
My husband suggested we bring her to a vet in the hope of finding a solution as pug dogs have been known to get tapeworms. Her diet has remained the same since the day we got her and she never gets tidbits as a friend of mine said that was the worst thing to do
Now she is beginning to do her jobbies in her doggie taxi which I cant work out, I am sure I saw on telly that puppies are known to do this . We usually take her out every hour sometimes less if she has consumed a lot of water.
At night we take her out just before bed time and bring her out first thing in the morning,I was leaving the door open so she could get out to use the bathroom of the night on her pug dog pad but that didn't work. The cheeky little monkey even went so far as to piddle on my hubby shirt, to say he was upset would be an understatement
We never raise our voice at our pet just simply take her out and tell her to go on the grass. Can you help us.Does she get confused by us taking her outside as well as giving her the option of the pooch pad.I cant imagine what we have done wrong so that she is so confused. We desperately need your help. What can we do to set her on the straight and narrow so that she is properly housetrained.
