Causes of Acne
Been a victim of the nomadic pimple? You know, one who sets up shop in your forehead then moves to your chin then moves to your cheek? And what’s worse, never actually seems to go away? You’re not the only one.
Around eighty percent of the adolescent population suffers from acne. If you’re one of them, read on to find out ways to deal with your zits by knowing the causes of acne. But if you’re one of the twenty percent and have never experienced a breakout in your life, consider skipping this article. You beautiful people have no use for it anyway.
Causes of Acne #1: Most doctors believe that stress is one of the main causes of acne and it probably isn’t far from the truth. Stress causes a lot of damage to the body, heightens anxiety as well as causes pores to secrete more oil than usual.
Causes of Acne #2: Hormonal changes are also one of the major causes of acne. Whether it be part of menopause or part of the beginnings of the menstrual cycle, hormones have a way of disrupting the natural flow of your body and cause breakouts.
Causes of Acne #3: Acne could also be genetic. If your acne has not disappeared even as you’ve started working and are now way over being a teenager, start considering the fact that your acne is genetic. One of the probable causes of your acne may be your smaller-than-average pores who trap more dirt and oil than usual. If not this, you may also be suffering from glands that are overactive producers of oil.
Causes of Acne #4: Insufficient sleep may also be one of the causes of acne. Always make sure that you get sleep from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., because this is the time that the skin regenerates itself. Miss out on this, you miss out on repairing your skin cells and preventing acne. Also, some doctors have said that no matter what kind of product you put on your skin, it will have no effect if you don’t sleep between this time frame.
Causes of Acne #5: Pollution is also one of the main causes of acne. This is why it is of utmost importance to scrub your face as soon as you get home especially when you’ve been taking the bus or the subway. Pollution gives your face a coating of dirt, grime, and sweat: a potent combination for pimples.
Causes of Acne #6: One of the causes of acne is too much skin scrubbing. Yes, you got that right. If you already have acne and think that you can benefit from some extra cleaning or extra exfoliation, you may actually be causing undue stress to your skin. Do not aggravate the condition or attempt to strip your skin completely of oil. Your skin still needs oil despite what all the TV commercials say and you may be telling your glands to overproduce oil in the process.
Causes of Acne #7: Other causes of acne also include the medication you may be using. There are drugs prescribed by your doctor that can cause breakouts as a side effect. If this really bothers you, you ask to discontinue the drug use or look for other medication that do not have an acne invasion as a byproduct.
